Most people in Mzansi own a pair of Chuck Taylor Converse  and we all have noticed that on every pair there are extra lace holes just on the side of the shoe. There are actually two reasons why they are there.
The two holes might seem like a unique design idea just to make the All Star stand out, they do actually have a more meaningful purpose

You won’t have to wonder what those little holes on your Converse are for anymore…because it has been revealed, the first reason is to help with air ventilation around your feet to avoid them getting sweaty.

Most trainer wearers know, if you walk around a lot, most likely your feet can become really hot and sweaty, so the first use of the holes is to help circulate air in the shoe.

Believe it or not those small gaps can help circulate air around as you move which helps to prevent your feet from overheating and eventually start smelling.

Most have questioned the true effectiveness of the trainers and stating they can only circulate air properly if you are not wearing socks; which isn’t common for most Converse wearers.

Second reason is to lace the shoe in such a way that it will add a little extra support to your foot. Those holes are meant for a shoe lacing technique called “bar lacing.”
Bar lacing allows you to make your shoe have a tighter but comfortable fit.
